From the given pie chart, we can see that people in New South Wales (32%) and Victoria (38%) are making the most inquiries.
Around 17% of overall traffic on the calculator is from Queensland.
There’s been an evident growth in Western Australia (6%) and South Australia (7%), which indicates an increased demand for home improvement work in those states.
Please keep in mind that this chart shows the calculator usage across Australia based on location. When population density is considered, calculator usage is evenly spread across all stated and territories.
What Has Been The Average Estimate?

From the data collected, Weatherboards are a preferable choice for both the ground and second story constructions. Brick fall second in preference, while rendered are the least sought-after materials.
Weatherboards have become a versatile and popular choice worldwide. It is expected for them to rank higher on the list and even stay as a premium choice.
Are Kitchen Renovations Required?
The majority of users (75%), are not considering kitchen renovations when using the extension and renovation calculator. It also fits the bill of the cost estimations. Most extension experts are well-versed in getting the work done without renovating the kitchen.
Out of those who opted for kitchen renovations:
- 25% were after only a basic kitchen renovations. Budget below $20,000.
- 56% took it as an opportunity to enhance the kitchen appearance with moderate renovations. Budget between $20,000 and $30,000.
- and 16% were looking to maximise their kitchen renovation and invest in a delux upgrade of more than $40,000.
Accordingly, basic kitchen renovations cost around $15,000 and moderate around $25,000. Deluxe kitchen renovations are double the moderate’s price and quadruple the price of basic renovations at more than $40,000. These budgets covers cabinets and benchtops only and does not allow for appliances.
Are Bathroom Renovations Required?

Comparatively, with new and changing plans, the need for bathroom renovations increases. Around 82% of people opted for Bathroom renovations when using the extension calculator. Out of which:
- 6% were wanting a Delux bathroom renovation with a budget over $30,000 per bathroom.
- 47% opted for a more moderate bathroom reno. Budget roughly between $20,00 and $30,000.
- And 47% opted for basic renovations with a budget around $10,000.
Around 18% conserved resources and didn’t opt for the bathroom renovations. The cost of bathroom renovations is also similar to kitchen renovations.
From the data, we could correlate that people opted for bathroom or kitchen renovations. A few would’ve opted for both the choices.
The bathroom held priority over the kitchen renovations when upgrading the existing home.

And finally, we conducted a survey to determine the users’ insights that have used the calculator. More than half the users, Fifty two percent (52%), found the results to be around their expected estimations. Some even found them lower than they expected. This is a positive indicator considering the increased cost of building over the past few years.
Forty Eight percent (48%) of users did, however, find that the results were higher than what they expected.
